Substack was messing up on me yesterday and there were some things left out that I tried to fix but for some reason kept deleting lines... No one has come at me yet with "what about getting the females spayed??" That's definitely what I should've done when I only had the two females. Definitely. But... I don't have a place for them to recuperate afterwards. At least for a few days it's good that they are inside to start healing. I have my 5 cats in the house. I have no basement like I had in our other house, which would be ideal. They do need to go to the bathroom and aren't litter box trained so accidents there wouldn't be as big a deal as in your house. We do have a garage, but the bottom of the door is all messed up and they would get out right off. Have no idea when the husband intends to deal with that garage door. It's been years now and doubt he'll fix it for this reason. So... Even if I did spay them - I had the girl kitty I brought in last summer spayed, and it was over $200. I do go to the more expensive vet in the area, but I've been to them all and feel best about him. The cheaper vet does offer spay vouchers, but last year in one week I know of two cats that died right after being spayed by him, one of them being my cousin's cat, so I don't feel comfortable with him. Spaying is a problem unto itself unless you have the money for it and a place for them to go right after for awhile. Or go ahead and put them out and hope it doesn't get infected or they don't hurt the area.

Another thing that got left out was the problems all the cats cause. Neighbors complain. You can get ticketed or reported. I saw in the news once a woman was made to stop feeding cats by the local cops. I've seen other women get arrested for it elsewhere in the country. The more cats you have the more likely you will be found out and in trouble. I don't know what they expect one to do when you have cat overload unless an authority just takes them all away to the shelter and doubt the shelter really wants them. Maybe instant euthanasia, so it's rather frightful all round.

I wish I lived closer. I would like a kitten. (My sweet cat passed away last year, and I really miss having a furry friend)

I'm so sorry. That's a pain I've experienced several times over and know it's coming 5 more times. Not looking forward to it. Maybe you could help someone out where you are by taking one off their hands and giving it a good home.
